Your privacy is of great importance to Brooktrout, Inc. and
our affiliated companies worldwide (collectively, “Brooktrout”).
Whether you are a prospective customer or a web site visitor, as a user of
our web site, including all associated web pages maintained by us (collectively,
the “Site”), you are valued by Brooktrout. This Privacy Policy
describes the measures we take to protect the personally identifiable information
(“Personal Information”) we obtain in connection with the functions,
facilities and services offered on our Site and our electronic mail correspondence.
What Personal Information Does Brooktrout Collect?
When you visit our Site, email us or visit us at a tradeshow, Brooktrout gathers
only a limited amount of information from you. The only Personal Information
we collect from you is information that you voluntarily submit to us, such
as your email address when you email us, and any other information contained
in your email or that you otherwise submit to our Site. We use Personal Information
to improve and facilitate your use of our Site and for our internal business
purposes, such as: responding to your inquiries or requests, customizing
our Site for you, improving our product selection and communicating with
you about our products and services or your transactions. In addition, Brooktrout
employs software that determines aggregate usage data (“Usage Data”)
on our Site. The Usage Data does not include any Personal Information and
is used only to improve our Site. If you register with Brooktrout, we may
create a profile that includes a login and password that we issue to you.
Brooktrout tracks the login and password only to manage your access to our
site and to determine the number of times you have logged on, but does not,
for example, keep track of which pages you visit.
We contract with third parties to obtain electronic mail addresses of persons
who we believe are likely to be interested in our products or services. Our
handling of this information is subject to this Privacy Policy.
Personal Information that we maintain may be transferred to facilities of
Brooktrout and the authorized third parties referred to herein, which may
be located in the United States or other countries.
Does Brooktrout Technology Share the Personal Information
It Receives?
We consider Personal Information to be a vital part of our relationship with
our customers and we treat it with great care and respect. There are, however,
certain limited circumstances in which we may share Personal Information with
certain third parties, as set forth below:
- Agents and Service Providers: Brooktrout, like many other companies,
may, from time to time, hire other companies to perform certain functions,
for example, mailing brochures or newsletters. When we employ another company
to perform a function of this nature, we only provide them with the information
they need to complete the task and require them not to use that information
for other purposes.
- Business Transfers: As we develop our business, we might sell or buy
businesses or assets. In transactions such as these, Personal Information
may be among the transferred business assets. Moreover, in the event that
Brooktrout is sold to, acquired by or merged with another company, Personal
Information may be among the transferred assets.
- Protection of Brooktrout and Others: We may release Personal Information
when we believe that such release is appropriate to comply with law, court
order or other legal or governmental process; to protect, assert, or defend
the rights, property or safety of our users, Brooktrout or others; or to
enforce our Privacy Policy and other agreements. In addition, we may exchange
Personal Information with other organizations for fraud protection and
credit risk reduction.
Access to Information About You
If you desire to review your own personal information, update or correct existing
Personal Information, or remove your Personal Information, please contact
us by email at info@cantata.com.
If you request removal of your Personal Information, some residual Personal
Information may continue to reside in our records and archives, but we will
not use that information for commercial purposes. Brooktrout reserves the
right to maintain your Personal Information if we have suspended, limited,
or terminated your access to our Site for any reason.
What Choices Do You Have?
If you do not wish to provide Personal Information about yourself, you do not
need to in order to use our Site. If you no longer wish to receive correspondence
from us via electronic mail, send an email to cantatatechnology@cantata.com,
include the email address you wish to have removed, and include the word “remove”in
the subject line.
Links to Third-Party Sites
You may be able to access third-party websites through links available on our
Site. Your use of such third-party sites will be subject to the privacy policies,
if any, of those sites and not by this Privacy Policy. Brooktrout is not
responsible for the actions of the operators of such third-party websites.
Security
Brooktrout takes reasonable steps to protect Personal Information from loss,
misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. However,
no Internet or email transmission is ever fully secure or error free. In
particular, email sent to or from our Site may not be secure, and you should
therefore take special care in deciding what Personal Information you send
to us by email. Please keep this in mind when disclosing any Personal Information
to Brooktrout via the Internet.
Children
Brooktrout’s Site is not targeted towards children, and we do not knowingly
collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13. We encourage
parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage
and to help enforce our Privacy Policy by instructing their children to never
provide Personal Information on our Site without their permission.
Terms of Use, Notices, and Revisions
If you choose to visit our Site, your visit and any dispute over privacy is
subject to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use Agreement, and your use
of our Site constitutes your agreement and acceptance of our Terms of Use
Agreement. If you have a concern about privacy at our Site, or if you have
received an unwanted, unsolicited email sent or purporting to be sent by
or on behalf of Brooktrout, please send an email with a detailed description
of your concern to cantatatechnology@cantata.com and
we will try to resolve it. Our business and Site change over time, and this
Privacy Policy may change also. Any revisions to this Privacy Policy will
be posted on our Site. Our use of Personal Information that we receive and
store is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time of our use of
such Personal Information. If we decide to collect additional Personal Information
from you, we will give you an opportunity to opt out of such practices.
