Brooktrout Technology CTO to Deliver Keynote Address at the China VoIP Conference and Expo

NEEDHAM, Mass, April 27, 2005--Brooktrout Technology, Inc., a leading supplier of media processing and call control products, today announced that Eric Burger, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Next-Gen Communications for Brooktrout will be delivering a keynote address at the 2005 China VoIP Conference and Expo in Beijing, China on May 19, 2005 at 1:30pm local time. During the keynote address, Mr. Burger will discuss “Barriers to VoIP Deployment and Initiatives to Overcome Them.” In addition, Mr. Burger will also present “Scaling Services Appropriately: Platforms that Scale from Beijing to Qing Dao” during an additional conference session on May 18, 2005 at 4:00pm local time.

Mr. Burger’s keynote address will discuss the progress that has been made in deploying VoIP, the barriers that remain, and the industry initiatives that seek to overcome those barriers. As many service providers have moved to IP for transport, there has been some price erosion. Service providers are looking for new ways to capture customers, increase revenues from existing customers, and retain customers on their new, IP networks. Mr. Burger’s keynote address will describe the various roles of industry consortia and standards bodies in addressing these issues.

In his session on “Scaling Services Appropriately,” Mr. Burger will describe how to develop and deploy enhanced multimedia services that generate high revenues. He will also explain how to decrease service creation risk by using the right protocols and environments. Finally, he will discuss successful deployments from Europe, the United States and Asia, and will cover the computer science fundamentals that explain why these methods are so successful.
