AUNA GROUP SELECTS OPENWAVE MESSAGING SUITE TO DEPLOY CONVERGED
MESSAGING SERVICES TO FIXED AND MOBILE CUSTOMERS
Openwave Messaging Suite brings simple, integrated user experience
of messaging services including E-mail, Voicemail, text-to-speech
and Fax
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - March 30, 2005 -- Openwave
Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), the leading provider of open software
products and services for the communications industry, today announced
that Spanish fixed, broadband and mobile telecommunications operator
Auna Group has selected Openwave's voice messaging as its new IP-based
next generation voicemail system. Both Auna Tlc and Amena will implement
Openwave's unique IP Integrated Messaging infrastructure, based
on Openwave's "all-IP" Messaging Mx platform, to deliver
converged messaging services to its fixed and mobile customers.
Openwave's Messaging Suite will enable Auna Group to differentiate
by converging mobile and broadband messaging experiences, providing
its customers with a variety of integrated messaging services including
E-mail, Voicemail and text-to-speech functionality. Whether accessed
via the web or a mobile WAP interface, Auna customers will be able
to manage messages of any type through a single inbox and simple
user interface. As such, Openwave's infrastructure will enable Auna
to differentiate its service offering with an improved user experience,
bringing a degree of flexibility otherwise unavailable in the market
today.
To ensure that its messaging customers are protected against spam
and virus attacks, Auna will also reinforce its offering with Openwave's
Mx-integrated anti spam and anti virus solution. Through the Mx
Extensions technology, Auna has the ability to "plug in"
value-added and best-of-breed processing software such as anti-virus,
anti-spam or lawful mail interceptions (CALEA) efficiently and cost
effectively.
"We are extremely excited to be working with Auna to help
it deliver a fully integrated messaging experience to its customers
and to further extend its leadership within this market by improving
their service quality, said Rich Wong, general manager, messaging
products group, Openwave. "With years of experience at the
forefront of IP messaging, Openwave is delighted to enable Auna
to both differentiate its service offering as well as protecting
Auna's customers from spam and virus abuse."
As part of the messaging solution, Auna has selected Brooktrout's
SnowShore Media Server™, which has been optimized to work
with Openwave's messaging suite. The SnowShore Media Server leverages
the simplicity and flexibility of SIP and VoiceXML to provide an
open, scalable IP media server solution, powering a broad range
of voice and video services for next-generation wireline, wireless
and broadband networks.
"Brooktrout's expertise in media processing platforms, coupled
with Openwave's leadership in multimedia messaging and email software
provides an ideal platform for the deployment of standards-based
messaging applications," said Peter Vescuso, vice president
of Market Development for Brooktrout Technology.
