Brooktrout’s SnowShore IP Media Server to Drive IBM’s
IMS Gaming Solution as Media Resource Function
Brooktrout to Showcase Next-Gen SIP Application Leadership
for Fixed and Wireless Service Providers at Supercomm
SUPERCOMM 2005, CHICAGO, BOOTH #82046, June 7, 2005–
Brooktrout Technology, Inc., a leading supplier of media processing
and call control products, will showcase its premier position as
a market-leading IP media server platform for delivering innovative
SIP multimedia applications to fixed and wireless carrier networks
at Supercomm.
At the show, Brooktrout returns to demo in the IBM booth (#64045)
for the third year as the companies will present Brooktrout’s
SnowShore IP Media Server™ with IBM eServer BladeCenter to
power advanced IBM interactive IMS pre-paid mobile gaming applications.
Within the live application demo, Brooktrout’s SnowShore IP
Media Server will serve as the Media Resource Function (MRF), as
defined in the IMS architecture by the 3GPP/3GPP2, providing the
critical media processing required for the scalable delivery of
the SIP-based, real-time, multimedia gaming service. The IBM IP
Multimedia Subsystem solution enables carriers to rapidly deploy
a suite of high value, differentiating services with compelling
entry point economics.
“There is a growing demand from telecom equipment manufacturers
for fully-integrated, carrier-grade solutions based on open industry
standards, and IBM is committed to working with its partners to
help clients meet these marketing requirements,” said Jim
Pertzborn, vice president of IBM eServer Telecommunications Solutions,
Systems and Technology Group. “We are delighted to work with
leading companies like Brooktrout to provide feature-rich, carrier-class
media processing solutions powered by IBM BladeCenter technology.”
In the Brooktrout booth (#82046), Brooktrout is showcasing its
application leadership by highlighting its support of the broadest
set of best-of-breed IMS application partners. The SnowShore IP
Media Server software will power a portfolio of innovative IP video,
messaging, contact center, fixed-mobile convergence and pre-paid
solutions with partners including BayPackets, CTI2, FERMA, IBM,
IPeria, Persona, RADVISION, Transera and uReach, demonstrating its
critical role as the platform of choice for delivering advanced
SIP multimedia services within VoIP, 2.5G/3G, and IMS network architectures.
“These live application demos with IBM BladeCenter highlight
the ‘market readiness’ and leadership of IBM technology
and Brooktrout-powered SIP service solutions,” said Peter
Vescuso, vice president of Market Development at Brooktrout Technology.
“The demos with our application partners will also showcase
the scalability, high performance and seamless interoperability
of the SnowShore IP Media Server within several different types
of IMS deployment scenarios.”
Brooktrout’s SnowShore IP Media Server, as the MRF, provides
flexible media processing resources that can support a broad range
of IMS applications, from messaging and multiparty conferencing
to prepaid services and advanced video and gaming services . Because
it is an open software architecture and utilizes industry-standard
server platforms and standards-based IP protocols, the SnowShore
IP Media Server can leverage the ongoing evolution of network architectures
and processor technology to deliver a flexible media processing
solution for next-generation IMS applications. It is a premier MRF
platform for delivering innovative SIP-based IMS multimedia services
due to its open, pure SIP and VoiceXML architecture. The Brooktrout
SnowShore IP Media Server is currently deployed in several broadband
and wireless applications, including 3G wireless operator TMN in
Portugal delivering its IP video messaging service.
