Excel Switching Corporation and Vocalocity Introduce CSP VoiceXML

- Industry Leaders Provide Carriers and Enterprises with an Integrated Standards-Based Speech Platform for Delivery of DTMF and Voice-Enabled Applications -

VON Fall 2005 Boston, Mass., – September 20, 2005 – Excel Switching Corporation (www.ExcelSwitching.com) announced today the availability of CSP VoiceXML, a standards-based approach for creating audio dialogs that feature synthesized speech, digitized audio, recognition of DTMF key input, and recording of spoken input, telephony and mixed-initiative conversations.

Based on Excel’s award-winning Converged Services Platform (CSP) 2090, CSP Voice XML was developed in partnership with Vocalocity (www.vocalocity.com) a leading provider of OEM software for standards-based telephony solutions. Vocalocity will exhibit at the Excel Switching booth (#121) during Fall VON at the Boston Convention Center from September 19-22, 2005.

Excel’s CSP 2090 is a high-performance, carrier-grade, open services system that provides a robust and highly flexible foundation for this integrated VoiceXML offering. The CSP 2090 bridges existing fixed and mobile networks to newer IP networks. It provides application developers with both IP (SIP and H.323) and PSTN (SS7, ISDN, and CAS) call control, media processing, and signaling, enabling the implementation of feature-rich, network-based converged services.

CSP VoiceXML also provides telephone access to Web content, end-user media control scripting, a common method for integrating Text-to-Speech (TTS), and is an ideal platform for voice application hosting, directory assistance, outbound calling campaigns, and network IVR/IVR consolidation.

“By partnering with Vocalocity for the creation of CSP VoiceXML, Excel now provides telecom carriers with a distinct competitive advantage for offering lucrative next-gen speech services to subscribers,” said Harold Klett, vice president, product management, Excel Switching Corp. “ This integration of Excel’s CSP 2090 with Vocalocity’s voice Browser offers service providers and enterprises a platform for delivery of voice services that are flexible and feature-rich, yet cost effective.”

“The adoption of speech solutions is rapidly increasing and placing the industry on the fast track for growth,” said John Hibel, Vice President of Business Development and Strategy for Vocalocity. “Working closely with Excel, we’ve been able to leverage the company’s reliable, high-performance technology to create the ideal VoiceXML-based environment for platform and service providers, as well as VARs, to continue the rapid deployment of current and new IVR applications that are in high demand.”
