CELTEL DEPLOYS CANTATA’S IMG 1010 INTEGRATED MEDIA AND SIGNALING
GATEWAY AND EMERGENT’S ENTICE APP SERVER
Honduran Mobile Provider Rapidly Builds Out New Long Distance
VoIP Network
SAN JOSE, Calif. and NEEDHAM, Mass. –
SPRING VON 2006, Booth #425 – March 15, 2006—Cantata
Technology™, the world’s leading independent provider
of enabling communications technology, established through the combination
of Excel Switching Corporation and Brooktrout Technology, announced
today that CelTel, a Honduras-based mobile telecommunications services
provider, has successfully deployed Cantata’s Integrated Media
and Signaling Gateway 1010 (IMG 1010™) and Emergent’s
ENTICE Session Controller in its network. CelTel is leveraging the
IMG 1010 and ENTICE platforms to dramatically reduce its long distance
costs while delivering a highly reliable SIP-based transport network.
Cantata’s IMG 1010 offers service providers unparalleled
performance, reliability and flexibility to introduce services across
fixed and mobile networks worldwide. With its compact 1U package,
integrated SS7 and flexible architecture, the IMG 1010 is a true
carrier-grade VoIP gateway and/or VoIP transcoder that enables service
providers to reduce costs while improving service quality.
Emergent’s ENTICE Session Controller provides initiation
and termination services as well as SIP proxy and redirect services
in a SIP environment. Because the ENTICE Session Controller supports
equipment and networks from Cantata and other leading vendors, VoIP
service providers can significantly reduce both their hardware investments
and their need to maintain separate routing information to multiple
vendors’ equipment.
“The powerful combination of Cantata and Emergent represents
an affordable solution that has reduced both our initial investment
and ongoing operational costs,” said Jose Manuel Astigarraga,
chief executive officer, CelTel. "Furthermore, by leveraging
both companies’ extensive experience, we were able to quickly
install and provision the IMG 1010 and the ENTICE Session Controller.
Subsequent network performance has exceeded our expectations.”
“Since its introduction less than one year ago, Cantata’s
IMG 1010 has achieved significant market traction, and has been
successfully deployed at service provider locations around the globe,”
said Peter Vescuso, vice president, marketing, Cantata Technology.
“The IMG 1010 empowers any-to-any network connectivity, and
provides a new level of density, integration and transcoding on
a future-proof platform that can evolve as services evolve.”
