Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office Calls On FaxCore and Cantata
Technology for Fax over IP Deployment
Parker, CO (June 12, 2006) – FaxCore Corporation, a provider
of fax and document server automation solutions, today announced
a significant Fax over IP (FoIP) implementation in the public sector.
To integrate fax communications into its existing VoIP network,
the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office deployed FaxCore’s
namesake fax server solution and Cantata Technology’s Brooktrout
SR140™, a software-only intelligent fax platform. The sheriff’s
office selected Colorado-based TMI (TransOptions Messaging, Inc.)
as its implementation partner and reseller for the FaxCore and Cantata
solutions. With the combination of FaxCore and Cantata, Vanderburgh
County Sheriff’s Office automated its fax communications and
workflow, and eliminated the need for 15 standalone fax machines
which were costly to maintain.
Based in Evansville, Indiana, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's
Office (www.vanderburghsheriff.com) serves a population of roughly
173,000. As part of its administrative processes, the sheriff’s
office relies heavily on fax communications to send and receive
critical paperwork between the county court, attorneys, and other
law enforcement agencies at state and federal levels.
According to Greg Selby, manager of information systems for Vanderburgh
County Sheriff’s Office, the uptime of fax communications
is critical to keep administrative operations running smoothly.
“If fax goes down, we are unable to process inmate release
forms which could impact many aspects of our business,” he
said.
Selby noted it was too costly to support its standalone fax machines
between paper, toner and on-going maintenance contracts plus the
manual routing process of sending and receiving faxes was not very
efficient and prone to failure due to human error. The sheriff’s
office also wanted to implement a solution that enabled them to
leverage their VoIP investment and reduce the overall cost of operating
a fax server by consolidating it on a common network infrastructure
and eliminate dedicated analog circuits.
The sheriff’s office now has 50 users optimizing FaxCore
who constantly send faxes through a web browser or from within their
email application. According to Selby, the sheriff’s office
sends and receives hundreds of faxes on a monthly basis using FaxCore,
and this number will continue to expand as new applications and
processes are leveraged by this new system.
“Organizations like Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office
rely heavily on fax communications to operate their business. This
FoIP deployment serves as a proof point for the maturity and stability
of this technology, delivering users a flexible and convenient environment
to send and receive fax communications,” said Tom Linhard,
Director of Channel Sales for FaxCore, Inc. “As a result,
Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is realizing cost efficiencies
while streamlining its workflow.”
“We are pleased our Brooktrout SR140™ software-only
fax-over-IP platform was selected by FaxCore and Vanderburgh County
Sheriff’s Office,” said Greg Gies, Market Development
Manager, Cantata Technology. “With our Brooktrout SR140™
intelligent fax platform coupled with FaxCore’s web-based
solution, organizations can capture significant savings by integrating
their fax services into their VoIP network with the same high level
of performance, reliability and security that Cantata’s Brooktrout
intelligent fax boards have become famous for.”
FaxCore provides small- and medium-size businesses (SMBs) and enterprise-class
operations with a powerful, Web-based solution to centralize, control,
and manage all types of fax communications and streamline business
processes. Its intuitive, browser-based interface enables users
to send and receive faxes with the same convenience of e-mail. Using
a thin-client system, organizations can easily deploy and maintain
FaxCore, and seamlessly integrate the solution to “fax-enable”
other applications.
