Ordercatcher Inc. Selects Cantata’s Speech Platform
For Innovative “Ordercatcher” Restaurant and Retail
Application
BOSTON, Mass., Microsoft TechED 2006, June 13, 2006
— Cantata Technology™, the world’s leading independent
provider of enabling communications technology, announced today
that Ordercatcher Inc., a leader in real-world speech applications,
has selected Cantata’s Brooktrout® TR1000™ for Microsoft
Speech Server to launch its innovative patent pending Ordercatcher™
suite of products for the restaurant and retail industries. Ordercatcher™
suite of products uses speech technology to streamline the telephone
order taking process, allowing restaurants and retail stores to
make more efficient use of their employee’s time and resources,
reducing order time to as little as 30 seconds vs. minutes to take
orders manually.
Cantata™ was established in 2006 through the combination
of Excel Switching Corporation and Brooktrout Technology®.
The Ordercatcher suite of products is available in several specially
designed modules, including Ordercatcher Chinese, Ordercatcher Pizza
and retail applications for taking and tracking customer placed
orders and inventory. Ordercatcher™ suite of products allows
customers to place any type of telephone based orders using speech
recognition. A “quick-hit” menu selection process allows
experienced users to complete the order in a just a few seconds,
and a new caller can complete their order quickly and accurately
in as little as 90 seconds.
Ordercatcher Inc. designed and deployed Ordercatcher™ suite
of products using the Brooktrout TR1000 for Microsoft Speech Server
platform. The Brooktrout TR1000 for Microsoft Speech Server is a
high-performance, easy-to-deploy telephony platform designed specially
for Microsoft Speech Server. A single, orderable item, the TR1000
for Microsoft Speech Server, includes the TR1000 speech processing
board, Brooktrout Telephony Interface Manager (TIM), Windows-certified
drivers, configuration tools and a complete suite of management
utilities.
“We evaluated several telephony platforms and found that
Cantata’s Brooktrout TR1000 provided the strongest and most
efficient technology for our application needs,” said Bob
Wild, president of Ordercatcher Inc. “As critical to our decision
process was Cantata’s focus on customer service and technical
support. We made sure that the vendor we chose was committed to
this market and would provide a long-term growth path. Cantata came
through this process as the clear winner.”
Ordercatcher™ suite of products contains multi-menu item
choices and is easily modified to add the “house specials”
for the individual restaurants and chains. Ordercatcher™ suite
of products can be easily updated for products, pricing and availability
on-site by the user. The system is linked to the “order manager”
web-site in real time. Each site has real-time access to its orders
so a chain can review all of its stores’ orders and their
movement in the system. Ordercatcher™ suite of products uses
a special process in dealing with the selection method of items,
improving accuracy and order completion satisfaction. This feature
also monitors the progress of the customer through the order process.
If it detects that the customer has hit a snag Ordercatcher™
automatically offers help or immediate access to an operator if
desired.
“We’ve been a Microsoft development shop for years
and decided to deploy on the Microsoft Speech Server because of
its product roadmap and ability to approach small and medium businesses
with a name that is recognized,” said Wild. “Our time
from concept to market was fast. Using the Brooktrout TR1000 and
Microsoft Speech Server, we were able to design and deploy Ordercatcher
in a very short time.”
“Microsoft Speech Server provides companies like Ordercatcher
Inc. with the opportunity to design innovative speech-enabled applications
that streamline business processes for greater efficiency and better
use of resources,” said Clint Patterson, director of product
management for Microsoft Speech Server. “Ordercatcher™
suite of products is a great example of how speech-driven applications
can help businesses and retailers face the challenge of increasing
productivity and customer satisfaction while keeping costs down.”
