Cantata Technology Named Media Server Market Share Leader
Infonetics Research Reports That Cantata’s Family of
Media Processing Solutions Propel Company to Leadership Position
in Highly Competitive Media Server Market
NEEDHAM, Mass., June 14, 2006 -- Cantata Technology™,
the world’s leading independent provider of enabling communications
technology, announced today that Infonetics Research, an international
market research and consulting firm, has named it the media server
market share leader for Q1 2006 in its “Service Provider Next
Generation Voice and IMS Equipment Market Forecast.”
Cantata Technology was established in 2006 through the combination
of Excel Switching Corporation and Brooktrout Technology®. The
combined company offers a wide-range of media processing solutions,
including the award-winning SnowShore IP Media Server™ and
Excel Converged Services Platform (CSP), that collectively have
propelled Cantata to the lead position in the Infonetics report.
Cantata’s SnowShore IP Media Server is the industry’s
premiere software-based, carrier-grade IP media server supported
by a wide range of industry standard hardware platforms running
on Red Hat Linux, and powering a broad range of innovative multimedia
services for next-generation wireline, wireless and broadband networks
including the 3GPP/3GPP2 IP Multimedia System (IMS) network architecture.
Cantata’s Excel CSP 2090 is a carrier-grade converged services
platform that also provides media server solutions for IP based
voice applications such as conferencing and prepaid services, and
can bridge existing wired and wireless networks with next-generation
IP networks, integrating protocols for IP (SIP and H.323), TDM (SS7,
PRI, and R2), mobility, and IN. From unified messaging to web-based
services, the CSP 2090 is the ideal solution for carrier-class enhanced
services.
“Cantata’s ranking at the top of Infonetics’
Q1 media sever market share report is testament to the worldwide
market traction and acceptance of the company’s media processing
solutions,” said Marc Zionts, chief executive officer, Cantata
Technology. “The popularity and adoption of the SnowShore
IP Media Server is driven by the industry’s most advanced
IP-based software architecture for the rapid deployment of current
and evolving network architectures such as IMS. The CSP 2090 success
can be attributed to an open programmable architecture that can
expedite time to market, reduce costs, increase revenues, and protect
the carrier’s investment.”
“Research indicates that there will be a strong drive toward
offering IP multimedia and softswitch-based Class 5 services, resulting
in strong adoption of media servers to support these services,”
said Stéphane Téral, Directing Analyst, Service Provider
Next Gen Voice and Mobile Core , Infonetics Research. “Cantata,
with its wide range of enabling media processing solutions is well-positioned
to remain a leading, major player in this market.”
