Cantata Technology Enhances Market-Leading Converged Services Platform 2090 with Major SIP, SS7, and Media Processing Advancements

Enhanced RoHS-Compliant CSP 2090 Empowers Carriers to Rapidly Deploy Integrated Solutions With Unrivaled Media Processing, Ease of Management and Troubleshooting, and Unmatched Reliability and Redundancy

NEEDHAM, Mass., September 12, 2006 -- Cantata Technology™, the world’s leading independent provider of enabling communications technology, announced today the introduction of an enhanced version of its market-leading Converged Services Platform (CSP) 2090, featuring major advancements in SIP, H.323, SS7, and media processing functionality. Building upon its industry dominance, the enhanced Excel CSP 2090 provides carriers with integrated media gateway, media server, and signaling server functionality, designed to empower rapid and cost-effective deployment of lucrative, high-demand, and multimedia-rich services.

Cantata Technology was established in 2006 through the combination of Excel Switching Corporation and Brooktrout Technology®.

Cantata’s Excel CSP 2090 is a carrier-grade converged services platform that bridges existing wired and wireless networks with next-generation IP networks, integrating protocols for IP (SIP and H.323), TDM (SS7, PRI, and R2), mobility, and IN. From unified messaging to web-based services, the Excel CSP 2090 is the ideal platform for carrier-class enhanced services.

The continued expansion and commitment to incorporating the latest SIP and IP standards on the Excel CSP 2090 platform enables carriers to leverage the power of SIP functionality. In addition, the Excel CSP 2090’s extensive signaling capabilities have been enhanced for rapid troubleshooting and maintenance to ensure the highest-level of carrier-grade reliability.

“The Excel CSP 2090 has long set the standard and pace as the industry’s most robust converged services platform, and the newly enhanced version is reflective of Cantata’s commitment to providing carriers with an integrated solution designed to meet constantly evolving market demands,” said Harold Klett, vice president, product management, Cantata Technology. “We expect the Excel CSP 2090 to experience continued impressive market traction and demand with carriers worldwide.”

“We continue to be pleased with the new features and flexibility that Cantata adds to the Converged Services Platform,” said Rich Oldach, executive vice president of strategic marketing at Volt Delta Resources, LLC (VoltDelta), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Volt Information Sciences, Inc. “Cantata’s feature-rich, future-proof platform has allowed us to deploy systems that have handled over 5.4 billion carrier calls to date.”

RoHS Compliancy Standards
The enhanced Excel CSP 2090 has also been designed and sourced to fully comply with the European Union’s Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive and its applicable exemptions. The RoHS directive applies to electrical and electronic products, and their component parts, offered for sale in the European Union after July 1, 2006. This law restricts the use of mercury, cadmium, and certain flame retardents.
