Cantata Technology Increases Worldwide Fax Market Share
Continues Growth in European and Asian Markets
NEEDHAM, Mass. – December 6, 2006—Cantata
Technology, one of the world’s leading independent providers
of enabling communications technology, today announced that it continues
its long-term leadership position in the worldwide fax board market,
with a 70% worldwide market share, according to the latest Davidson
Consulting research report, “Computer-Based Fax Markets, 2005-2010.”
In addition to its majority market share position in the US, Cantata
also saw continued market share gains in 2005 in Europe and Asia.
Cantata Technology was established in 2006 through the combination
of Brooktrout Technology and Excel Switching Corporation.
“Once again, Cantata Technology is the absolute leader, increasing
its market share lead in units in 2005 to 70.1% compared to 18.2%
for the next closest competitor,” said Peter Davidson, president
of Davidson Consulting. “Since combining with Excel Switching
in October of 2005, Cantata has already increased the distribution
of its fax boards, particularly to service providers in Southeast
Asia and China, as well as in Eastern Europe.”
Cantata has the broadest range of intelligent fax technology on
the market today ranging from small scale solutions with the Brooktrout®
TruFax® product line to enterprise and carrier grade systems
with the Brooktrout TR1034™ and SR140™ products. Combined,
Brooktrout-brand fax products are approved for use in over 40 countries.
“Cantata’s market-leading intelligent fax products
provide us with the carrier-grade performance and reliability needed
for our application,” said Toshiyuki Suzuki, General Manager,
Public System Division of Fujitsu Social Science Laboratory Limited
(Fujitsu SSL) in Japan. “We look forward to working with Cantata
in the future as the market for fax services continues to grow.”
The Davidson Consulting report also found that the fax server market
started to show some of the dynamics that are going to cause the
market to grow by an estimated 8.2% CAGR, including increasing adoption
of multi-function peripherals (MFPs) and fax over IP (FoIP) technology.
Both Cantata’s Brooktrout SR140 and TR1034 fax platforms support
real-time FoIP, providing companies with the ability to integrate
fax servers and fax-based document management solutions with their
VoIP network, achieving the same high levels of performance, reliability
and scalability that enterprises have come to expect over the past
20 years from Cantata while capturing the benefits of IP-based communications.
