Alcatel-Lucent Certifies Cantata’s Brooktrout Fax-over-IP
Technology
Cantata’s Brooktrout TR1034 and SR140 Pass Rigorous Interoperability
Testing
NEEDHAM, Mass. Feb. 20, 2007—Cantata Technology™,
one of the world’s leading independent providers of enabling
communications technology, today announced that its Brooktrout®
SR140™ and TR1034™ fax-over-IP platforms have passed
Alcatel-Lucent’s interoperability tests and have received
official certification on Alcatel-Lucent’s OmniPCX Enterprise
communications platform. The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise is
an integrated, interactive communications solution for medium-sized
businesses and large corporations. The solution combines traditional
telephone functions with support for Internet-based telephony and
multimedia communication.
With more than 70% market share worldwide, Cantata Technology is
the market leader in intelligent fax platforms, offering the fullest
featured and broadest range of fax server platforms available on
the market today. Fax server technology sits squarely at the intersection
of communications, document management, business process automation,
and compliance. The shift to IP communications, combined with the
increased focus on business process automation and document management,
makes the IP fax server an excellent solution as companies accelerate
their IP communications plans.
Alcatel-Lucent worked closely with Cantata to test and certify
that the Brooktrout TR1034 and SR140 fax-over-IP products were fully
interoperable with the OmniPCX Enterprise communications platforms.
Alcatel-Lucent’s customers can now take advantage of Cantata’s
market-leading fax technology as they deploy fax-over-IP applications
on their VoIP networks.
“One of the primary reasons companies implement fax-over-IP
is the consolidation of voice and data traffic onto a single IP
network,” said Peter Vescuso, vice president of marketing
for Cantata Technology. “As companies make that transition
using the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX communications platform, they can
deploy Cantata’s Brooktrout-based IP Fax technology with confidence,
knowing that it has been fully tested and certified by Alcatel-Lucent.”
Cantata’s Brooktrout TR1034 is a high performance V.34 intelligent
fax platform offering support for both PSTN and fax-over-IP connectivity.
The Brooktrout TR1034 is suitable for a variety of fax server applications
such as document management, business process automation and compliance
with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley and HIPAA. The Brooktrout
SR140 offers the same capabilities as the TR1034 in a software-only
solution, with the additional benefits inherent to a software-only
solution, such as easier installation and upgrades with no hardware
to maintain, and freedom from issues with form factors and server
expansion slots.
